The Kappa Omega chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha prides itself on the sisterly bond between its members. The Sisterhood Committee, responsible for encouraging and nurturing this sisterly love, is made up of a variety of girls who know what true sisterhood is all about.
Each month, the committee plans a fun activity or outing for all members of the chapter to participate in. Some examples include visiting Sky Zone, an indoor trampoline recreational center, decorating cards for terminally ill children at a local children’s hospital and hosting an on-campus Easter egg hunt for our members.
The sisterhood committee also does a fantastic job of spicing up weekly chapter meetings by playing member requested music before the meeting, holding themed chapters with prizes for the best costumes and trivia type games that reflect our knowledge of Zeta Tau Alpha. We also have a sisterhood journal, which is read aloud during these weekly chapter meetings. This journal contains real accounts of true sisterhood between members of Kappa Omega, and examples of the happiness that sisterhood can bring.
Sisterhood is prized in all Panhellenic organizations, and is especially valued here in the Kappa Omega chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha.
Earlier in the semester, Kappa Omega rang in the Easter season with an Easter-themed sisterhood. We held an Easter egg hunt where girls competed to find the most eggs. Then, the women were split up into their founders groups to compete in more games such as tossing plastic eggs into a basket, racing from one of the room to the other with a spoon in their mouth that carried a Peep, and even took a few swings at an Easter-themed piñata. This sisterhood was one of the more competitive and athletic sisterhoods, a good way to get girls on their feet and bonding with one another!
